What is a QR code?

A QR code is like a bar code, and it’s used to store information. The QR stands for quick response. A QR code is usually set on a white background with black rectangular bar and triangle like shapes configured together. The QR code started back in Japan in 1994 for a car company called Denso Wave–which is a subsidiary branch of Toyota. Recently QR codes have gained great popularity because when the code is scanned with a mobile smart phone, the user will be linked to a url containing a video or website. The codes have become easy ways of linking people to content. Here’s an example of a QR code I created to link to a workshop page on iPads in the library:
